Hello band students and families,
Here are some announcements as we dig into Quarter 2 of this crazy school year.
1. Fruit Sale!
10 days left! Thanks to everyone who has sold fruit so far. This annual event is even more important than usual with the loss of some of our other fundraisers. Check it out and buy or sell a few boxes at the fruit sale website.
2. WSMA State Honors Auditions - (Register by 12/4)
Congratulations to all the students involved in the state honors (virtual) performances last month! We strongly encourage any interested 9th-11th grade students to audition for the Wisconsin State Honors ensembles. Click here for all the info.
3. Solo & Ensemble Registration - (Register by 11/24)
Registration is now open for the December solo & ensemble cycle. Click here for all the info. This cycle is primarily for students who have already been preparing a solo; we will be doing more solo work in class for the spring cycle.
4. Jazz Bands
Jazz ensembles met for the first time earlier this week. Still want to join? No problem - ask Mr. Brown. If you need a school instrument for jazz band, you may stop by the school tomorrow between 8:00 and 3:30 to pick it up. Send Mr. V an email when you're coming, or to arrange a different time. 5. Parent-Teacher Conferences Next week, teachers have availability for individual conferences. Please email to set up a time. We especially encourage conferences for students who are currently struggling and students who are considering studying music in college. 6. Opportunity: University of Minnesota Honor Band - (Deadline 11/30) UMN is running a virtual honor band this year on January 30. Any advanced musician in grades 10-12 can audition, but it would be an especially good opportunity for students considering the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities for college. Click here for info. 7. Opportunity: University of Dubuque Honor Band - (Deadline 1/15) Similar to UMN above. Date is March 27th. Click here for info, and let Mr. V know if you would like to be nominated. We're looking forward to the day when we can make music together again. Keep your spirits up, and stay safe. -- Michael Ver Voort
