FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mike Dewey Memorial Concerto Showcase 2020

Middleton, Wisconsin – March 1, 2020

The MHS Orchestra will be presenting the annual Mike Dewey Concerto Showcase on Thursday,  March 12th at 7:30 pm in the MHS PAC. The concert is free and open to the public.

The Mike Dewey Concerto-Aria Concert honors the memory of Mike Dewey, orchestra teacher at MHS from 1982-2000.  Mr. Dewey was known as a dedicated orchestra teacher who adored his students and loved teaching. Mr. Kurr fondly remembers Mr. Dewey’s “wonderful sense of humor, love of Star Wars, and jovial nature.”

This popular concert showcases the Concerto-Aria winners performing with the MHS Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Steve Kurr. Music featured will include the Blue Danube Waltz by Johann Strauss and music by Gershwin, Biber, and Marais.  Our concerto winners are Jonah Guse on piano and Ellen Zhou on violin. Along with the MHS Symphony Orchestra will be Sinfonia, a sophomore/junior ensemble featuring music by Meyer, Balmages, and jazz violinist Randy Sabien.
