February 28, 2017 Solo/Ensemble, NYC, Jazz, & Upcoming Concerts

Hello band parents and students-

1. Solo/Ensemble - Our District Solo/Ensemble is this Saturday!  With over 500 MCPASD musicians as well as a few transfers from elsewhere, this is always a massive undertaking.  A huge thank you to the 63 parents already signed up to volunteer.  We are still looking for about 40 more parents to be room monitors throughout the day.  Know that we do have two full sets of floaters to cover for parents who need to see their children perform.

If you can help this Saturday, please sign up to volunteer by  clicking here.

We also host a potluck luncheon for the judges, accompanists, and faculty on Saturday.  Our greatest need is still for volunteers, but if you aren't able to help on Saturday, bringing or sending a dish is greatly appreciated.  Sign up for the potluck  here.

2. NYC Reminders - Our first tour band rehearsal, required for all NYC band students, is this Thursday from 7:00-8:30 in the band room.  Also at 7:00 on Thursday: if you have a child with a chronic health condition or concern and would like the opportunity to speak with a parent chaperone, please come to the orchestra room at 7:00.  Lastly, please turn in the HIPAA form if you have not already done so.

3. Jazz - A quick reminder that Tuesday night jazz bands still meet tonight in spite of the testing days.

4. Upcoming Concerts - March is concert month once again.  Please be aware of the following dates:  - Thursday, March 9th is the Collage Concert, featuring the Block 1 and 2 Concert Bands as well as most of our upperclassman small group ensembles.  - Thursday, March 16th is the Concerto Showcase concert, including full orchestra students as well as the Wednesday AM Honors Wind Ensemble.  - Tuesday, March 21st is the Cardinal Showcase, featuring all 9th grade musicians.

Thanks, everyone.  We'll be seeing you a lot this month at our various music events!
